Pulled Pork
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
In a bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
- 2
Cook the Pork
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the top. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Shred the pork using two forks, discarding any excess fat.
- 4
Add BBQ Sauce
Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix in the BBQ sauce. Let it cook on low for an additional 30 minutes to heat through.
- 5
Prepare the Buns
While the pork is heating, prepare the PDM buns by toasting them lightly if desired.
- 6
Assemble the Sandwiches
Serve the pulled pork on the PDM buns, topped with horseradish coleslaw.
