Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Patty Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) and the cheese is melted.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, slice the brioche buns in half. You can lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, layer a handful of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato and some onion. Place the cooked patty with melted cheddar on top, and then cover with the top half of the bun.
