Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill an old-fashioned or rocks glass by filling it with ice and setting it aside while you build the cocktail.

2

Measure and combine

In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add 1.5 oz Lunazul Reposado, 0.5 oz Brandy St. Louis, 0.5 oz Amaro Montenegro, 0.5 tablespoon pure maple syrup, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz fresh orange juice, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

3

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with enough ice to cool the drink well (large cubes preferred). Stir gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted — the outer surface of the glass should feel cold and slightly frosted.

4

Prepare serving glass

Discard the ice that was chilling the serving glass. Add one or two fresh large ice cubes to the glass (or a single large cube).

5

Strain

Using a Hawthorne or julep strainer, double-strain the stirred cocktail into the chilled rocks glass over the fresh ice to remove any small chips or pulp.

6

Garnish and finish

Express an orange twist over the drink to release oils, rim the glass lightly with the peel, then drop the twist into the drink as garnish. Using a microplane or small grater, grate a light dusting of whole nutmeg over the surface of the cocktail — about a small pinch (to taste).

7

Serve

Serve immediately. Recommend advising drinker to sip slowly to enjoy the layered herbal, citrus, maple, and nutmeg notes.
