Prepare glass
Choose a large wine glass (or rocks glass). Fill the glass about three-quarters full with large ice cubes to chill the glass and keep dilution slow.
Add Aperol
Pour 3 tablespoons (approx. 1.5 oz / 45 ml) of Aperol over the ice. Swirl gently once to coat the ice and start chilling the Aperol.
Top with soda
Add 1 oz (about 30 ml) of chilled soda water to top the drink. Pour slowly to avoid overflow and to maintain effervescence.
Stir gently
Using a bar spoon, give the mixture one or two gentle, slow stirs to combine Aperol, wine, and soda without knocking out too much carbonation.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a fresh orange slice on the rim or floated in the drink. Serve immediately while bubbly and chilled.
