Shrimp and Marinade

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Marinate the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce (for buffalo shrimp) or Cajun seasoning (for Cajun shrimp). Add the shrimp, ensuring they are fully submerged in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

2

Prepare the Breading

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. This will create a seasoned coating for the shrimp.

3

Bread the Shrimp

Remove the marinated shrimp from the refrigerator. Dredge each shrimp in the breading mixture, shaking off any excess flour.

4

Fry the Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat (about 350°F / 175°C). Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

5

Serve

Serve the shrimp hot with additional hot sauce or Cajun seasoning on the side, if desired.
