Base (choose one for today's dip)

Seasoning

Method

Prepare base

  1. 1

    Combine creamy base

In a medium mixing bowl, add the Greek yogurt, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Whisk gently until smooth and homogenous, scraping the sides with a rubber spatula. The mixture should be thick but pourable.

Add flavor builders

  1. 2

Stir in the fresh lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using) into the creamy base until fully incorporated. These build brightness, silkiness, and a subtle umami backbone.

Fold in aromatics & herbs

  1. 3

Add the minced garlic, finely minced shallot, chopped dill, chives, and parsley to the bowl. Fold gently with a spatula so the herbs are evenly distributed without overworking the mixture.

Season

  1. 4

Add the sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, smoked paprika, and ground cumin. Taste and adjust seasoning in small increments—add up to 0.25 tsp more salt or pepper if needed. The smoked paprika adds color and a whisper of smokiness.

Choose and add variation add-ins

  1. 5

Stir in one or two add-ins you selected (for example, roasted red peppers for sweetness and texture, or crumbled feta for tang). Mix until evenly distributed. If using sun-dried tomatoes or roasted peppers that retain oil, drain excess oil before adding to avoid thinning the dip.

Rest and develop flavors

  1. 6

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer to an airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (preferably 1–2 hours) to let flavors meld. If in a hurry, a 15-minute chill still improves integration.

Finish & serve

  1. 7

Before serving, give the dip a final stir. Transfer to a serving bowl, drizzle with 1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil, sprinkle lemon zest if using, and garnish with a small sprig of dill or chives. Serve chilled or at cool room temperature with fresh vegetables, warm pita, or chips.

Make-ahead & storage

  1. 8

Store leftover dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Stir before serving. If the dip thickens too much, stir in 1–2 tsp water or lemon juice to adjust consistency.
