Method

Sandwich

1

Prepare roll

Slice each potato roll horizontally through the middle, keeping the halves connected if desired for easier handling. Spread 1/2 tsp mayonnaise (optional) on the bottom half and 1/2 tsp mustard on the top half of each roll.

2

Assemble

Place 3 slices of deli ham folded as needed onto the bottom half of each roll so it covers the bread evenly. Top the ham with 2 slices of cheddar cheese.

3

Heat and melt

Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium-low heat for 1–2 minutes. Spread about 1/2 tbs butter on the outside of the top half and 1/2 tbs on the outside of the bottom half of each roll. Place the sandwich in the skillet and press gently with a spatula. Cook 2–3 minutes until the bottom is golden and the cheese begins to melt. Flip carefully and cook another 1–2 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is fully melted. If using an oven, preheat to 350°F (175°C) and bake sandwiches on a tray for 6–8 minutes until warm and cheese is melted.

4

Finish

Remove from heat and let rest 30 seconds. Cut the sandwich in half diagonally (or leave whole) and serve warm.
