Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass and prepare ice

If desired, chill the highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes. Fill the glass with fresh ice to the top (about 1 cup).

2

Add liqueurs

Using a jigger, pour 1.5 oz Baileys Irish Cream and 0.5 oz cherry liqueur (or maraschino cherry syrup) directly over the ice.

3

Optional acid

If using, add 0.25 oz fresh lime juice to brighten the flavors. This is optional but recommended to keep the Baileys from tasting overly sweet against cola.

4

Top with Coca-Cola

Slowly pour 4 oz (about to top) of Coca-Cola down the side of the glass or over the back of a bar spoon to preserve some effervescence and create a gentle layering effect.

5

Stir gently

Use a bar spoon to gently stir 4–6 revolutions to combine the Baileys, cherry liqueur, and cola without causing excessive foam. Aim for an even, dark brown appearance.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with one Luxardo or maraschino cherry on a pick. Serve immediately with a straw if desired.

Cleanup/Notes

7

Because Baileys is cream-based, do not shake vigorously with carbonated mixers. Combine gently to prevent curdling. Consume shortly after preparation for best texture and fizziness.
