Cocktail
Prepare the glass
Chill a rocks or coupe glass in the freezer for 5 minutes or fill it briefly with ice water, then discard the ice water. Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and dip the rim lightly into coarse salt to coat. Set the glass aside.
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional Blanco tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), and 0.25 oz agave syrup (optional) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with approximately 6 ice cubes, seal, and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted.
Strain and serve
Double-strain the mixture (using the shaker top and a fine strainer if available) into the prepared chilled glass. If you prefer an on-the-rocks presentation, fill the prepared glass with fresh ice and pour the cocktail over the ice.
Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
