Sauerkraut

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Chicken

Pound the chicken breasts to about 1/2 inch thickness. Season with salt and pepper.

2

Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with bread crumbs.

Cooking

3

Bread the Chicken

Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and coat with bread crumbs.

4

Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

5

Make Mashed Potatoes

Boil the peeled and chopped potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until creamy.

6

Prepare Creamy Mushroom Sauce

In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Add sliced mushrooms and cook until soft. Pour in heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.

Serving

7

Plate the Dish

Serve the chicken schnitzel with a generous portion of mashed potatoes, topped with the creamy mushroom sauce, and a side of sauerkraut.
