Syrups & Flavorings
Measure syrups
Measure the cola syrup and lemon-lime syrup into a small clean pitcher or mixing glass. Add the fruit-flavored syrup (cherry or raspberry) and the optional simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink. Stir gently until the syrups are combined.
Adjust flavor
Taste a small spoonful of the combined syrup (a tiny taste will be quite concentrated). If you want a stronger cola character, add up to 1 tablespoon more cola syrup. For a brighter citrus note, add up to 1 tablespoon more lemon-lime syrup. If using additional fruit flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon more at a time.
Carbonated & Cold Components
Prepare glass
Fill a 16- to 20-ounce serving glass with 1.5 to 2 cups of ice cubes (about 2 cups).
Combine with carbonated water
Pour the measured syrup mixture over the ice. Slowly add 4 cups of cold carbonated water to the pitcher or, if preparing a single serving, slowly pour about 12 ounces (1.5 cups) of cold carbonated water into the glass over the syrup. Pour slowly down the side of the glass or use a bar spoon to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming.
Mix gently
Use a long spoon to stir gently 4–6 times to combine syrup and carbonated water evenly. Avoid vigorous stirring to retain bubbles.
Garnish & Finish
Garnish
Squeeze the lemon or lime wedge lightly over the drink, rim the glass with the wedge if desired, then drop it into the drink. Add the maraschino cherry on top if using.
Serve
Serve immediately with a straw. Stir briefly before drinking if the syrup has settled.
