Chill glass

Place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you gather ingredients to chill the glass.

Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass halfway with ice (about 4–6 large cubes).

Pour 1.5 oz Smirnoff Red Label vodka and 0.75 oz Archers Peach Schnapps into the shaker.

Add 2 oz cranberry juice and 2 oz orange juice to the shaker.

Cover and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold (or stir for 8–10 seconds if you prefer a slightly smoother, less aerated drink).

Dump the ice or water from the chilled glass and fill the glass with fresh ice cubes (about 3/4 full).

Double-strain or pour the cocktail from the shaker into the prepared glass over the fresh ice. If you want a layered look, pour slowly over the back of a spoon so the cranberry sinks slightly.

Garnish with an orange wheel or wedge on the rim and a maraschino cherry dropped into the drink.

Optionally squeeze half a lime wedge over the drink for a touch of brightness and drop the wedge in. Add a mint sprig for aroma if desired.

Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
