Method

Base

1

Chill and prepare glass

Place a wine or large stemmed glass in the freezer for 10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare other ingredients to ensure the spritz stays chilled.

2

Add ice

Fill the chilled glass about two-thirds full with fresh ice (approximately 1 cup).

3

Add optional bitter or liqueur (choose one)

If using an add-in, pour the chosen bitter or liqueur over the ice: Aperol 1 oz for a classic bright spritz, Campari 1 oz for a more bitter profile, elderflower 1/2 oz for floral notes, or limoncello 1/2 oz for lemon-forward sweetness. Do not combine more than one unless you want a more complex custom flavor.

4

Pour Schweppes lemonade

Measure and slowly pour 2 oz chilled Schweppes lemonade into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to preserve effervescence.

5

Top with Prosecco

Gently pour 6 oz chilled Prosecco into the glass. Pour slowly to maintain bubbles and avoid overflow. No stirring required; a gentle swirl is fine if the mix needs slight integration.

Garnish & Finish

6

Choose garnish

Select one complimentary garnish based on your chosen add-in: orange wheel for Aperol/Campari, lemon twist or frozen berries for limoncello or lemonade-forward versions, mint sprig for elderflower, or skewered green olives for a savory contrast.

7

Prepare garnish

If using an orange wheel, cut a 1/4" slice and make a small slit to sit on the glass rim. For a lemon twist, use a peeler to cut a 2" strip and twist over the drink to release oils. Lightly slap the mint between palms to release aroma. Thread olives onto a short skewer if using.

8

Finish touches

Optional: add 1 dash Angostura bitters on top for aromatic depth or 0.25 oz simple syrup if you prefer a sweeter spritz. Gently place your chosen garnish on the rim or float it in the drink.

9

Serve

Serve immediately while sparkling. Recommend a large wine glass and a reusable straw or stirrer. Suggest tasting and adjusting future pours (more or less lemonade, Prosecco, or liqueur) to personal preference.
