French Fries Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into even-sized strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes them crispier when fried.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or large heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot, either on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce.
