Preparation
1. Cutting the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.
2. Soaking the Potatoes
Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
3. Drying the Potatoes
Drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel.
4. Heating the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
5. Frying the Potatoes
Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-7 minutes until golden and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pot.
6. Draining and Seasoning
Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, season with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
7. Serving
Serve the fries hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
