Method

Chips

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tortillas

Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to form chips.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Fry the Chips

Fry the tortilla wedges in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot, for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

  4. 4

    Drain the Chips

Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt to taste while they are still hot.

Salsa

  1. 5

    Chop the Ingredients

Finely chop the tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño pepper. Remove seeds from the jalapeño if you prefer less heat.

  2. 6

    Mix the Salsa

In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, onion, cilantro, and jalapeño pepper.

  3. 7

    Add Lime Juice and Salt

Pour the lime juice over the mixture and add salt to taste. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  4. 8

    Let it Rest

Allow the salsa to sit for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld together before serving.
