Method
Preparation
- 1
Cook the Protein
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or chicken until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- 2
Add Seasoning
Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked meat. Add a splash of water (about 1/4 cup) to help distribute the seasoning. Stir well and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
- 3
Heat Beans
In a small saucepan, heat the canned black beans over low heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes.
Assembly
- 4
Prepare Tortillas
Warm the flour tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave for about 30 seconds until pliable.
- 5
Layer Ingredients
On each tortilla, layer about 1/4 of the seasoned meat, followed by 1/4 cup of warmed black beans, a handful of shredded lettuce, diced onion, and diced tomatoes.
- 6
Add Cheese
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the layered ingredients.
- 7
Wrap It Up
Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll from the bottom up to create a wrap. Ensure the filling is secure inside.
- 8
Serve with Cheese Sauce
Place the wrapped tacos on a plate and drizzle warm cheese sauce over the top before serving.
