Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Mix gently and divide the mixture into two equal parts. Form each part into a patty, making them slightly larger than the buns as they will shrink while cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness.

Cook Bacon

  1. 3

    Crisp the Bacon

In a skillet, cook the bacon strips over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and let them drain on paper towels.

Melt Cheese

  1. 4

    Add Cheese to Patties

During the last minute of cooking the patties, place two slices of American cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to help the cheese melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare Buns and Toppings

While the cheese is melting, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly if desired. Slice the tomato and onion.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place lettuce, a cheesy patty, two strips of bacon, another cheesy patty, and the remaining bacon. Top with sliced tomato and onion, then drizzle with ketchup and mustard. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
