Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

After flipping the patties, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 6

    Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, a slice of tomato, and the cooked cheeseburger patty.

  3. 7

    Add Toppings

Top the patty with pickles, onion, ketchup, and mustard to taste.

  4. 8

    Complete the Burger

Place the top half of the bun on each assembled burger.
