Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Tear the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine and Bake

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture over the torn bread pieces. Gently stir to ensure that all the bread is soaked in the liquid. If using, fold in the optional additions such as raisins, nuts, or chocolate chips.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Baking Dish

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter (2 tbsp). Pour the bread mixture into the prepared baking dish.

  3. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 7

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
