Toppings

Method

Preparing Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Make the Patties

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick.

Grilling

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Grill the Patties

Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Steaming with Beer

  1. 5

    Prepare for Steaming

Once the patties are grilled, place them in a grilling basket or a heatproof dish.

  2. 6

    Steam with Beer

Pour the lager beer over the patties and cover with foil. Allow them to steam for an additional 5 minutes.

Cooking Bacon

  1. 7

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from the skillet and let drain on paper towels.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 8

    Prepare the Rolls

Slice the pretzel rolls in half and toast them lightly on the grill.

  2. 9

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each pretzel roll, place a beer-steamed burger patty. Top each patty with a slice of bacon and a generous amount of cheese sauce. Cover with the top half of the roll.
