Shooter

Method

Shooter

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

If you want a sugared rim, rub a lemon wedge around the rim of a chilled shooter glass (1.5 oz to 2 oz capacity), then dip the rim into coarse sugar to lightly coat. Set the glass aside in the freezer or a cool place while you mix the drink.

  2. 2

    Mix

Add the Tullamore D.E.W. Irish whiskey (1 oz), green tea liqueur (1 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.25 oz), simple syrup (0.25 oz), and one dash of Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with 3 ice cubes (or enough to nearly fill the shaker).

  3. 3

    Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly diluted.

  4. 4

    Strain and serve

Double-strain (or fine-strain if available) the mixture into the prepared chilled shooter glass, leaving the ice behind. The shooter should fill the glass (approximately 2 oz).

  5. 5

    Garnish

Express a lemon twist over the shooter to release oils, then drop it in or rest it on the rim. Serve immediately.

  6. 6

    Notes

If you prefer a sweeter shooter, increase simple syrup to 0.5 oz. For a brighter citrus pop, use 0.375 oz lemon juice and 0.125 oz lime juice instead. Substitute Midori with any green tea or melon liqueur to maintain color and flavor profile.
