Batch (makes 8 servings)
Single-serve shaken rail drink
1. Prepare
Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice.
2. Measure and pour 1.5 oz blended base spirit, 0.5 oz triple sec (or rail orange liqueur), 0.5 oz fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz simple syrup into the shaker.
3. Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior shows condensation.
4. If serving as a straight cocktail: double-strain into a chilled coupe or rocks glass without ice. If serving as a highball: fill a highball glass with fresh ice and strain the shaken mixture over the ice.
5. If using soda: top the highball glass with 2 oz club soda or lemon-lime soda and gently stir once to combine.
6. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the glass rim. Serve immediately.
Batch prep (makes 8 servings)
7. In a clean pitcher or beverage dispenser, combine 12 oz blended base spirit, 4 oz triple sec, 4 oz fresh lime juice and 4 oz simple syrup.
8. Stir thoroughly until the simple syrup is fully incorporated. Refrigerate the mixture until chilled (at least 30 minutes). Keep covered.
9. To serve straight: pour 3 oz of the chilled mix into a chilled rocks or coupe glass. To serve highball: fill a glass with ice and pour 3–4 oz of the mix over the ice, then top with 2 oz club soda or lemon-lime soda and gently stir.
10. Garnish each glass with a lime wheel or wedge. For service during busy periods, keep chilled mix on ice in the dispenser and add soda at the point of service to maintain carbonation.
