Hawaiian Meat Slider

Kid-Friendly Side (Oven Baked Potato Wedges)

Method

Hawaiian Meat Slider

1

Prep and form patties

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with foil. In a bowl combine 1 lb ground beef, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper and 1 tsp garlic powder. Mix gently until combined; don't overwork. Divide mixture into 12 equal portions and form thin round patties slightly larger than the slider rolls.

2

Cook patties

Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook patties 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through (internal temp 160°F/71°C). Transfer to a plate and keep warm.

3

Make glaze

In a small bowl whisk together 3 tbsp pineapple juice, 3 tbsp teriyaki sauce and 2 tbsp melted butter.

4

Assemble sliders

Slice the 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally. Place bottom halves on a baking sheet. Put a cooked beef patty on each bottom bun, top 6 of the patties with a half cheese slice (or fold slices to fit) and place a pineapple slice (cut in half if needed) on top of the other 6 patties if desired. Brush the tops of buns and exposed patties with the pineapple-teriyaki glaze.

5

Bake briefly

Place top halves of rolls over sliders, brush tops with any remaining glaze, and bake in the preheated 350°F oven for 5–7 minutes until cheese is melted and rolls are slightly toasted. Remove and serve warm.

Kid-Friendly Side (Oven Baked Potato Wedges)

6

While oven is preheating to 350°F (175°C) for sliders, increase oven temperature to 400°F (204°C) if you prefer crispier wedges. Wash potatoes and cut each into 8 wedges.

7

In a large bowl toss potato wedges with 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper until evenly coated.

8

Spread seasoned wedges in a single layer on a lined baking sheet. Bake at 400°F (204°C) for 25–30 minutes, turning once halfway, until golden and tender. If oven space is limited, bake wedges after sliders or use a toaster oven; adjust time as needed.

9

Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve alongside the sliders.

Drink (Kid's Fruit Punch)

10

In a pitcher combine 1 cup apple juice, 1 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup pineapple juice. Stir to combine.

11

If using sparkling water for fizz, add 1/2 cup chilled sparkling water just before serving to keep carbonation. Add ice cubes and garnish each cup with a maraschino cherry if desired.

12

Pour into a child's cup and serve alongside the slider and wedges.
