Classic Margarita Mix

Method

Prepare Glasses & Garnish

1

salt rim

Pour the kosher or flaky sea salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each serving glass, then dip the rim into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. For a sweeter rim, mix coarse sugar with salt or use sugar alone.

2

Cut lime wheels or slices for garnish and set aside. Keep additional lime wedges for serving.

Make Margarita Batch

3

combine ingredients

In a large measuring pitcher or mixing bowl, combine blanco tequila (1.5 cups), fresh lime juice (1 cup), orange liqueur (1/2 cup), and agave syrup (1/4 cup). Stir well until agave is fully incorporated. Taste and adjust sweetness: add more agave 1 tablespoon at a time if you prefer sweeter.

4

chill or refrigerate

For best flavor, chill the batch in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow flavors to marry. You can also make this up to 24 hours ahead and keep covered in the fridge.

Shake & Serve (single cocktails)

5

shake with ice

To serve individual cocktails, fill a cocktail shaker with 1 cup of ice. Add 4 ounces (1/2 cup) of the prepared margarita mix, shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.

6

strain

Strain into a salt-rimmed old-fashioned or coupe glass over fresh ice (if desired).

7

garnish

Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and serve with a lime wedge.

Pitcher / Batch Service (for groups)

8

add ice to pitcher

Fill a pitcher with 4–6 cups of ice (or fill individual glasses with ice when serving). Pour the chilled margarita mix over the ice.

9

optional lighten

If you prefer a slightly lighter, fizzy margarita, gently fold in up to 1 cup of club soda or sparkling water just before serving to preserve bubbles.

10

Give the pitcher a brief stir to combine. Serve into salt-rimmed glasses and garnish each with a lime wheel.

Variations & Infusions

11

fruit margarita

For a fruit variation, purée 1 cup of fresh mango, strawberry, or watermelon and strain if desired. Replace 1/2 to 1 cup of the prepared mix with the purée, then proceed to shake or serve over ice.

12

spicy margarita

For a spicy kick, muddle 2 thin jalapeño slices in the shaker before adding ice and 4 ounces of margarita mix. Taste cautiously and adjust jalapeño amount to your heat preference; remove seeds for milder spice.

13

frozen margarita

For a frozen margarita, combine 4 cups of the prepared mix with 4 cups of ice in a blender. Blend on high until slushy and smooth. Rim glasses, pour, and garnish.
