If the bottle is not already cold, place the bottle in a refrigerator for at least 2 hours to reach about 45–50°F (7–10°C). For faster chilling, submerge the bottle in an ice bucket filled with ice and cold water for 20–30 minutes.

Chill (if not already chilled)

Select clean white wine glasses (or universal wine glasses). Rinse them briefly with cold water and dry with a lint-free cloth, or chill them in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes if you prefer extra-cold glasses.

Prepare glassware

Remove the foil capsule covering the cork with a foil cutter or a small knife. Center a waiter-style corkscrew over the cork and twist the worm into the cork until one spiral remains showing. Use the lever to gently pull the cork out in a steady motion to avoid splashing.

Open the bottle

Hold the bottle up to the light and check for any sediment (rare for a young Sauvignon Blanc). If clear, you can pour directly. Decanting is generally unnecessary for this style; do not decant unless you want to aerate the wine briefly—pour slowly into a decanter and let sit for 10–15 minutes.

Inspect and decant (optional)

Pour about 4–6 ounces (120–180 ml) into each wine glass, filling the glass to about one-third to allow aromas to concentrate. Serve immediately at 45–50°F (7–10°C).

Pour and serve

If you have leftover wine, re-cork the bottle tightly (using the original cork or a reusable wine stopper) and store it upright in the refrigerator. Consume within 3–5 days for best flavor. Optionally use a vacuum wine preserver to extend freshness to about 7 days.
