Method
Base & Spirits
Measure spirits
Measure 2 oz gin, 0.75 oz elderflower liqueur and 0.5 oz dry vermouth into a cocktail shaker.
Citrus & Sweeteners
Add 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.5 oz simple syrup into the shaker with the measured spirits.
Fruit & Aromatics
Muddle melon, cucumber and mint
Place the 2 oz small cubes of fresh melon, 3 cucumber slices, and 6 mint leaves into the shaker. Gently muddle 6–8 times—just to release juice and aromatics, avoid pulverizing the mint to prevent bitterness.
After muddling, add one cup of ice to the shaker to chill the mixture.
Mixing & Finish
Firmly cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the exterior of the shaker is well chilled (and diluted).
Double-strain the shaken cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice to remove small bits of fruit and mint.
Top the cocktail with 1.5 oz chilled club soda to give a light effervescence. Gently stir once to combine.
Garnish & Serve
Thread a melon ball or a thin cucumber ribbon onto a cocktail pick and rest across the rim of the glass. Slap a mint sprig between your palms to activate oils and place it as an aromatic garnish.
Serve immediately and enjoy. Optionally, provide a small straw for easier sipping if served in a rocks glass.
