Method

Soju Base

1

Chill and Prepare

Place the unopened bottle of Chum-Churum soju in the refrigerator for several hours or in an ice bucket for 20–30 minutes so it is very cold. Cold soju tastes smoother and is typically served chilled.

2

Fill Glasses

Place 1/4 to 1/2 cup of ice cubes into each serving glass (soju glasses or small tumblers). Adjust amount of ice by preference—traditional Korean pours are often served without ice in small shot glasses; for a long drink use ice.

3

Pour Soju

Open the chilled Chum-Churum bottle. Pour approximately 60–90 ml (about 2–3 oz) soju per serving glass, or pour directly into a shared carafe if serving family-style. If using the whole bottle, pour to serve the desired number of guests (a standard 360 ml bottle yields about four 90 ml servings).

Optional Mixers & Garnishes

4

Light Highball (Optional)

For a light soda soju highball, top each poured glass of soju with about 60–90 ml (2–3 oz) carbonated water. Gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine. This creates a refreshing, lower-abv drink commonly enjoyed as 'soju soda.'

5

Citrus or Cucumber Garnish (Optional)

Squeeze a lemon or lime wedge over the glass and drop the wedge in for a bright citrus note, or add 2 cucumber slices for a crisp, cooling flavor. Adjust to taste.

6

Serve

Serve immediately while cold. Replace ice if it dilutes too much. Traditionally, drinkers pour for one another and hold the glass with both hands when receiving a pour from an elder; otherwise, enjoy casually.
