Method

Preparing the Batter

  1. 1

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  2. 2

    Mix the Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

Cooking the Pancakes

  1. 4

    Heat the Pan

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease it with butter or oil.

  2. 5

    Pour the Batter

Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.

  3. 6

    Cook the Pancakes

Cook the pancakes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  4. 7

    Keep Warm

If you are making multiple pancakes, keep the cooked pancakes warm in a low oven while you finish cooking the rest.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Pancakes

Stack the pancakes on a plate, drizzle with maple syrup, and top with fresh berries. Serve immediately.
