Smoothie Base

Method

Prepare Fruit

  1. 1

    Prep papaya

Peel the papaya, cut it in half lengthwise, scoop out and discard the seeds. Chop the papaya flesh into ~1-inch cubes and measure 2 cups. If using pre-cut papaya, ensure pieces are ripe and tender.

  2. 2

    Prep banana

Peel the banana and slice into chunks. Measure about 1/2 cup of banana pieces (half a medium banana) for creaminess without overpowering the papaya flavor.

Blend Smoothie

  1. 3

    Combine ingredients

Add the papaya cubes, banana pieces, Greek yogurt, chilled milk, honey or maple syrup, fresh lime juice, lime zest (if using), and vanilla extract (if using) into the blender jar.

  2. 4

    Add ice

Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the blender. If you prefer a thicker smoothie, add more ice or use frozen papaya; for a thinner consistency, reduce ice or add an extra 2–4 tablespoons of milk.

  3. 5

    Blend

Secure the blender lid and blend on medium-high speed until smooth and creamy, about 45–75 seconds depending on blender power. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend another 10–15 seconds to fully incorporate.

  4. 6

    Adjust sweetness & texture

Taste and adjust: add an additional 1/2–1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup if more sweetness is desired, or a splash more milk if too thick. Blend 5–10 seconds after adjustments.

Serve & Garnish

  1. 7

Pour the smoothie into two chilled glasses (about 2 servings). Garnish each glass with a small papaya slice on the rim and a sprig of fresh mint, if desired. Serve immediately.
