Method

Prepare the Bangers

  1. 1

    Cook the Sausages

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the pork sausages and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onions and Garlic

While the sausages are cooking, slice the onion and mince the garlic. Once the sausages are done, remove them from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onions are soft and translucent.

  3. 3

    Make the Sauce

Add the chicken broth and Dijon mustard to the skillet with the onions and garlic. Stir well, scraping up any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Season with salt and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Sausages and Sauce

Return the sausages to the skillet and coat them with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.

Prepare the Mash

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into equal-sized chunks. Place them in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  2. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy.

Serve

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Serve the sausages on a plate with a generous helping of mashed potatoes. Pour the onion and mustard sauce over the sausages and mash.

  2. 8

    Enjoy

Enjoy your homemade bangers and mash while hot!
