Preparation

Prepare the Pineapple

Cut the pineapple into small cubes. You will need about 1 cup of pineapple cubes for the recipe.

Prepare the Jalapeño

Slice the jalapeño pepper in half, remove the seeds for less heat, and chop it finely.

Mix the Spices

In a small bowl, combine the smoked paprika and ground licorice root. Set aside.

Cooking

Sauté the Ingredients

In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the pineapple cubes and chopped jalapeño. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until the pineapple is slightly caramelized.

Add Seasoning

Sprinkle the smoked paprika and ground licorice mixture over the sautéed pineapple and jalapeño. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Season to Taste

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Stir and let cook for another minute.

Serving

Remove from heat and serve warm as a side dish or topping for grilled meats or tacos.
