Toasting & Serving Tools

Method

General Prep for All Items

1

Bring to room temperature if needed

Remove butter, cream cheese and preserves from refrigeration 10–15 minutes before serving so they spread easily.

2

Preheat toaster or oven to desired toasting setting (toaster medium; oven 350°F/175°C if using).

Individual Item Prep & Serve

3

White Bread

Place 1 slice of Uptown Bakery White Bread into toaster and toast to medium (about 2–3 minutes) or brush both sides lightly with butter and warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 4–6 minutes. Serve hot on a plate with 1 tbs butter and 1 tsp preserves alongside. Salt and pepper are not required.

4

Whole Grain Bread

Toast 1 slice of Whole Grain Bread to medium (2–3 minutes) or warm in oven for 4–6 minutes. Spread 1 tbs unsalted butter or cream cheese immediately after toasting so it melts slightly. Serve on plate.

5

Sourdough Bread

If serving sourdough, warm 1 slice in a toaster or oven until edges are crisp (2–4 minutes). Place on serving plate and offer 1 tsp olive oil for dipping and 1 tbs butter or preserves on the side.

6

Rye Bread

Toast 1 slice of rye bread to medium (2–3 minutes). Serve with 1 tbs butter or 1 tbs cream cheese; rye pairs well with a light smear of preserves. Plate immediately.

7

Butter Croissant

Warm the croissant in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5–7 minutes (wrap loosely in foil for a softer interior, heat uncovered for crisper exterior). Serve whole with 1 tbs butter and 1 tsp preserves on the side. Provide knife for splitting if guests prefer.

8

House Baked Muffin

Warm the muffin in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 5 minutes or microwave for 15–20 seconds until slightly warm. Offer 1 tsp honey or butter on the side. Serve on plate.

9

Bethesda Bagel

Slice the bagel in half horizontally. Toast cut sides in a toaster or under broiler for 1–2 minutes until golden. Spread 1 tbs cream cheese on the warm halves (or butter if preferred). Offer salt and pepper to taste if adding savory toppings.

Plating & Serving

10

Arrange selected items on a serving platter or individual plates. Include small ramekins for butter, cream cheese, preserves and olive oil. Label items if offering multiple bread choices so guests can identify them.

11

Provide appropriate utensils (butter knife, small spoons for preserves, napkins). Serve immediately while items are warm.
