Pasta

Method

Cooking Pasta

1

Boil Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add a pinch of salt to the water.

2

Cook Pasta

Add the elbow macaroni to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 7-8 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

3

Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the macaroni in a colander and set it aside.

Making Cheese Sauce

4

Melt Butter

In the same pot used for boiling the pasta, melt the butter over medium heat.

5

Add Flour

Once the butter is melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour, stirring constantly for about 1 minute to create a roux.

6

Add Milk

Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

7

Add Cheese and Seasonings

Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder. Mix well.

Combining

8

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained macaroni back into the pot with the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.

9

Serve

Spoon the mac and cheese into bowls or plates. Optionally, top with additional cheese or breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
