Method
Preparation of Chicken Tenders
Prepare the Chicken
Cut the chicken breast into strips about 1 inch wide. This will ensure they cook evenly and are easy for kids to handle.
Set Up Breading Station
In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in one, whisk the eggs in another, and place the breadcrumbs in the third.
Bread the Chicken Strips
Dredge each chicken strip in flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it in breadcrumbs, ensuring it is evenly covered.
Cooking
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. You can test if it's ready by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; if it sizzles, it’s ready.
Fry the Chicken Tenders
Carefully place the breaded chicken strips into the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through.
Drain Excess Oil
Once cooked, transfer the chicken tenders to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Preparation of Side
Cook French Fries (Optional)
If using frozen french fries, cook them according to the package instructions. If making fresh fries, cut potatoes into strips, soak in cold water for 30 minutes, then fry in hot oil until crispy.
Serve with Ketchup
Place the fries on a plate and serve with ketchup on the side for dipping.
