Coffee & Chocolate Base

Method

Coffee & Chocolate Base

1

Brew espresso

Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 60 ml). If you don't have an espresso machine, make 60–90 ml of very strong brewed coffee.

2

Make chocolate syrup

In a small cup, combine 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons hot water. Whisk until smooth and no lumps remain. Stir in 1.5 teaspoons granulated sugar (and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract if using) until dissolved to create a quick chocolate syrup.

3

Immediately add the hot espresso to the chocolate mixture and stir to fully incorporate. Taste and add the optional 1 teaspoon simple syrup or extra sugar if you prefer a sweeter drink.

Assemble Drink

4

Fill a 16–20 oz glass with 1 cup of ice cubes.

5

Pour 1 cup milk over the ice.

6

Pour the warm chocolate-espresso mixture over the milk and ice. Stir gently for 10–15 seconds to combine and chill the espresso without excessive dilution.

Finish & Garnish

7

If using, top the iced mocha with 2 tablespoons whipped cream.

8

Drizzle 1 teaspoon chocolate syrup over the whipped cream and sprinkle 1 teaspoon chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder for garnish.

9

Insert a straw, give a final gentle stir, and serve immediately.
