Method

Prepare Ingredients

1

Prep fruit and dates

Peel the bananas and slice them into chunks. If your dates are dry, soak them in 2 tablespoons of warm water for 5–10 minutes, then drain (reserve a little of the soaking water to thin if needed).

2

Measure other ingredients

Measure out the oat milk, shredded coconut, and any optional enhancers you plan to use (yogurt, vanilla, cinnamon, seeds). If using toasted coconut for garnish, toast it gently in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden, then set aside to cool.

Blend

3

Combine and blend

Add banana chunks, pitted dates, shredded coconut, and oat milk to a high-speed blender. If using, add yogurt, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and flax or chia seeds. Add ice cubes if you want a colder, thicker smoothie.

4

Blend to smooth

Blend on high for 45–90 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once, until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, add up to 1/4 cup (60 ml) more oat milk or a tablespoon of the reserved date soaking water and blend again. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes or 1/2 a frozen banana and blend until desired thickness.

Serve

5

Taste and adjust sweetness — add another date or a small drizzle of maple syrup only if needed. Pour into two glasses (approximately 12–14 oz / 350–420 ml total).

6

Garnish each glass with a sprinkle of toasted coconut flakes and a few banana slices on top. Serve immediately.
