Fried Oyster Po' Boy Ingredients
Method
Directions
Prepare the Oysters
Rinse the fresh oysters under cold water and remove any shells. Pat dry with paper towels.
Marinate in Buttermilk
In a bowl, soak the oysters in buttermilk for about 30 minutes.
Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Oysters
Remove the oysters from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge oysters in the flour mixture and carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Assemble the Po' Boy
Slice the hoagie rolls and layer with shredded lettuce, fried oysters, sliced tomato, and drizzle with remoulade sauce.
Serve
Close the sandwich and serve immediately while hot with extra remoulade on the side.
