Method

Prepare Fruit & Herbs

1

Wash and slice

Rinse the lemon, lime, orange, mint, and basil under cold water. Pat dry. Slice the lemon and lime into thin half-moons (use half of each fruit total). Thinly slice one quarter of the orange; reserve the rest for another use. Pluck the mint and basil leaves from stems and discard the woody ends.

2

Lightly bruise the mint and basil leaves by clapping them between your palms or gently crushing with the back of a spoon to release their aroma without shredding them.

Infuse Water

3

Combine ingredients

In a clean 1-quart (or 1-liter) pitcher, pour 8 cups filtered water. Add the lemon, lime, and orange slices. Add the bruised mint and basil leaves so they sit near the surface.

4

Add balancing elements

Stir in 1 tsp raw honey (or agave) until dissolved. Add a pinch of pink Himalayan or sea salt and stir gently to distribute. The honey and salt help round flavors and enhance perceived freshness.

5

If using cucumber slices and/or ice, add them now. Cucumber gives a crisp coolness while ice chills the infusion quickly.

Rest & Serve

6

Chill

Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 6 hours. For a quicker option, let sit 10–15 minutes at room temperature, then serve immediately; longer refrigeration yields more pronounced flavor.

7

Strain or leave in

Before serving, you can leave the fruit and herbs in the pitcher for a rustic look or strain them out with a fine-mesh sieve for clear water. If you leave them in, stir gently before pouring.

8

Serve

Pour into glasses over ice if desired. Garnish each glass with an extra mint sprig or a thin citrus wheel. Taste and adjust: add more honey (1/4 tsp increments) if you prefer slight sweetness, or an extra pinch of salt if flavors feel flat.
