Smoothie Base

Method

Smoothie Base

1

Prepare Papaya

If not already prepared, peel the papaya, cut it in half lengthwise, scoop out the seeds with a spoon and discard seeds. Chop the papaya flesh into roughly 1-inch pieces until you have about 2 cups packed.

2

Combine Main Ingredients

Place the chopped papaya, banana chunks, yogurt, chilled milk, and orange juice into a blender jar. Add honey or maple syrup for sweetness.

3

Add Flavor Enhancers

If using, add the lime juice and vanilla extract to the blender to brighten and round the flavor.

Ice & Blend

4

Add the ice cubes to the blender. Secure the lid and blend on high for 40–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula once if needed, then blend again for 10–15 seconds.

5

Check consistency and sweetness. If the smoothie is too thick, add up to 2 tablespoons (30 ml) more milk and blend briefly. If it needs more sweetness, add another 1/2 teaspoon honey and blend.

Serve & Garnish

6

Pour the smoothie into two glasses (about 8–10 oz each). If desired, sprinkle chia or hemp seeds on top and garnish each glass with a mint leaf.

7

Serve immediately with a straw. Leftover smoothie can be refrigerated in a sealed container for up to 24 hours; stir or shake before drinking and note texture will thicken.
