Wine

Method

Wine

1

Choose and prepare the wine

Select a bottle of Ramey Chardonnay (or a comparable full-bodied American Chardonnay). Ensure the wine is stored upright and chilled to about 50–55°F (10–13°C) for best aromatics and balance.

2

Decant or gently open

Open the bottle using a standard corkscrew. If the wine is young and tightly wound, decant for 15–30 minutes to allow the wine to open up. For older or already open bottles, skip decanting.

Optional finishing & serving

3

Chill glass and serve

If desired, fill a wine glass with ice and water for 2–3 minutes to chill; discard ice and water before serving. Pour 6 ounces (about 3/4 cup) of the chilled Chardonnay into a large white-wine glass, leaving room to appreciate the aromas.

4

Optional light spritz

If you prefer a slightly spritzed style, add up to 2 tablespoons (about 0.25 cup) of chilled sparkling water to the poured glass and gently stir once with a bar spoon to combine. Taste and adjust amount of sparkling water to taste.

5

Aroma finish

Express the lemon twist over the glass by holding it skin-side down and giving it a quick twist to release citrus oils; rub the rim with the peel and drop it in or rest it on the glass. Serve immediately.
