Method
Wine
Assess the bottle
Inspect the Peter Michael Chardonnay for vintage and storage condition. This label is typically an oaked, full-bodied American Chardonnay; plan to serve slightly chilled (not ice-cold) to best show its aromatics and texture.
Open the bottle
Place the bottle upright for a few minutes to let any sediment settle (if older vintage). Use a corkscrew to remove the cork cleanly. Wipe the bottle mouth with a clean cloth.
Chill & Serve
Rapid chill (if needed)
If the bottle is at room temperature and you need to chill quickly, fill a bucket or large container with the ice and add cold water to surround the bottle. Submerge the bottle neck-deep and leave for 10–15 minutes, rotating occasionally until the wine reaches 50–55°F (10–13°C). Remove and dry the bottle.
Glass preparation
If you like, place glasses in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes before serving to keep the temperature stable. Do not freeze the glasses or over-chill them as that mutes flavors.
Pouring
Pour the Chardonnay into chilled glasses, filling to about one-third full (approximately 4–5 oz / 120–150 ml) to allow room to swirl and release aromas.
Serving notes
Serve immediately. Recommend pairing with roasted chicken, creamy pasta, mild cheese, or shellfish. If the wine warms while serving, return the bottle to the ice bucket for a few minutes to bring it back into range.
