Cocktail Base

Method

Prepare Glass

1

Optional salt rim

If you want a salted rim, rub the cut edge of the lime wedge around the rim of a chilled rocks glass. Dip the glass rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt to coat. Set the glass aside.

2

Fill the prepared glass with fresh serving ice and set aside.

Mix Cocktail

3

Add tequila, fresh lime juice, fresh lemon juice, and agave syrup to a cocktail shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 oz or until roughly three-quarters full).

5

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels well chilled and slightly frosted.

6

Double-strain the shaken mixture into the prepared rocks glass over the serving ice to remove small ice shards and citrus pulp.

Red Wine Floater & Garnish

7

Using the back of a bar spoon held just above the surface of the cocktail, slowly pour 0.5 oz of the red wine over the spoon so it gently floats on top of the margarita, creating a layered 'horizon' effect.

8

Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and a thin lemon twist laid atop the floater (or slipped onto the side of the glass).

9

Serve immediately with a short stirring straw so the drinker can break the floater into the cocktail if desired.
