Method
Prepare Cocktail Base
Chill glass
Place a stemmed wine glass or large coupe in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice and water while you mix to chill.
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the dry gin (1 oz), elderflower liqueur (0.5 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz), orange blossom water (2 tsp), and simple syrup (0.5 tbsp). Stir briskly for 15–20 seconds to chill and slightly dilute.
Combine with Wine
Discard the ice/water from the chilled serving glass if used. Add 6 oz well-chilled American Chardonnay to the mixing glass with the stirred gin mixture. Gently stir with a bar spoon 6–8 times to integrate the wine without losing too much effervescence or aromatics.
Serve & Garnish
Fill the chilled serving glass with 4–6 fresh ice cubes (if desired for a more relaxed, long-drink style). Strain the combined cocktail gently into the glass.
Garnish with a thin lemon wheel or twist on the rim and float 2–3 edible flower petals on the surface. Optionally, give a very light spritz (one quick spray) of orange blossom water over the finished drink for extra floral aroma.
Serve immediately. Advise guests to sip and enjoy the interplay of Chardonnay fruit, light botanicals from the gin, and delicate floral notes.
