Ingredients

Preparation

Directions

1. Prepare the Grapes

Wash and destem the Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Syrah grapes. Remove any damaged or unripe grapes.

2. Crush the Grapes

Crush the grapes using a grape crusher or by hand to release the juice. Transfer the crushed grapes into a fermentation vessel.

3. Mix Ingredients

Add the oak chips and sugar to the crushed grapes. Stir well to ensure the sugar is dissolved and the oak chips are evenly distributed.

4. Add Water

Pour the water into the fermentation vessel with the grape mixture. Stir gently to combine.

5. Add Yeast

Sprinkle the yeast over the top of the mixture. Do not stir immediately; allow it to hydrate for about 10 minutes.

6. Fermentation

Cover the fermentation vessel with a clean cloth or fermentation lock. Allow the mixture to ferment in a dark, cool place for 7-14 days, stirring daily.

7. Press the Wine

Once fermentation is complete, press the mixture to separate the liquid from the solids using a wine press or cheesecloth.

8. Secondary Fermentation

Transfer the pressed wine into clean fermentation vessels. Allow it to undergo secondary fermentation for another 4-6 weeks.

9. Bottle the Wine

Once secondary fermentation is complete, siphon the wine into clean bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal with corks.

10. Age the Wine

Store the bottled wine in a cool, dark place for at least 6 months to develop its flavors before enjoying.
