Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a bit of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties, and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the internal temperature of the patty reaches 160°F (71°C).

Prepare Burger Assembly

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, spread butter on the cut sides of the burger buns. Toast them on a separate skillet or under a broiler until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, and any desired ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
