Ensure the Stella Artois is well chilled (ideally 38–45°F / 3–7°C). Chill the chalice or pilsner briefly in a refrigerator or with cold water; avoid freezing the glass, which can cause excessive foaming.

Chill beer and glass

If desired, quickly rinse the glass with a small amount of very cold water (about 30 ml) and pour that water out. This removes dust and cools the glass further, helping create a proper head when pouring.

Rinse glass (optional)

Hold the glass at a 45° angle. Begin pouring the Stella Artois down the side of the glass, aiming mid-way up the slope of the glass, until the glass is about two-thirds full. Pour steadily to minimize excessive foam.

First pour — angle pour

Once two-thirds full, slowly tilt the glass upright to vertical and pour the remaining beer into the center of the glass. This builds a 1–1.5 inch (2.5–4 cm) creamy head. Aim for a clean, domed head that sits just above the rim without overflowing.

Second pour — straighten and finish

Allow the beer to settle for 10–20 seconds. If the head collapses more than desired, top up gently from the bottle/can to restore a modest head. Avoid aggressive pouring that creates excessive foam.

Settle and top up (if needed)

If you prefer a citrus accent (non-traditional), rub the rim lightly with half a lemon wedge and drop it beside the glass or discard. Stella Artois is traditionally served without garnish.

Garnish (optional)

Serve immediately while cold. Hold the chalice by the stem or base (if using a chalice) to avoid warming the beer with your hand. Sip and enjoy the lager's crisp, slightly malty profile and mild bitterness.
