Select the beer or beers you want for the bucket. A standard bucket serves six bottles — set the six bottles you want to include on the counter. Adjust the ingredient quantities if you want a different number of bottles.

Choose beers

Ensure each bottle is sealed, not cracked, and chilled if possible. If bottles are warm, the chilling step below will cool them.

Check bottles

Place the clean bucket on a stable surface. Add the measured ice to the bucket, distributing it evenly.

Pour the cold water over the ice. The water should be enough to create a slushy ice bath but not so much that bottles float out of reach — about 1 cup for a standard 6-bottle bucket. Add salt if using; stir briefly. Salt lowers the freezing point and speeds chilling.

Nestle the six bottles into the ice bath with labels facing up for presentation. Arrange them around the bucket so they support each other and stay submerged about halfway (ice should touch most of the bottle bodies).

Allow bottles to sit in the ice bath for at least 10–15 minutes if they are already cool, or 20–30 minutes if they are room temperature. For faster chilling, rotate bottles once after 10 minutes so any warmer sides are exposed to the ice/water mix.

Before serving, wipe the bottle necks with a clean napkin to remove excess water and ice shards. Place a lime wedge on each Corona if desired and provide a bottle opener and napkins/coasters nearby.

Present the bucket on a tray or stable surface. Instruct guests to remove bottles one at a time. Keep the bucket topped up with ice as needed to maintain temperature; periodically drain excess water if it becomes too full and add fresh ice.

Dispose of melted ice water responsibly. Do not leave glass bottles in direct sunlight or hot cars for extended periods. Drink responsibly and follow local laws regarding alcohol consumption.
