If desired, chill a 16 oz pint glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes. Otherwise, fill the glass with 4 ice cubes to keep the cider cold (ice is optional; some prefer no ice to avoid diluting flavor).

Chill and prepare glass

Open the 16 oz bottle or can of hard apple cider. Hold the glass at a slight angle (about 45 degrees) and begin pouring the cider gently along the side to reduce excessive foam. Straighten the glass as it fills and finish with a 1/2 inch head of foam if desired.

Pour cider

Garnish the cider by sliding a thin apple slice onto the rim or squeeze a lemon wedge lightly over the top then drop it in. Serve immediately while cold.
