Method

Prepare glass and ice

1

Chill glass (optional)

If desired, place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice and water while assembling other components. This helps keep the soda colder longer.

2

If using ice, add 1 cup of ice cubes to the chilled or room-temperature glass, leaving room at the top for pouring.

Assemble soda

3

Measure 2 fl oz of your chosen soda syrup. Pour the syrup into the bottom of the prepared glass (or into the soda fountain nozzle cup if using a dispenser).

4

Slowly pour 12 fl oz of chilled carbonated water over the syrup (or activate the fountain dispenser for a 6:1 water-to-syrup ratio). Pour gently down the side of the glass to retain more carbonation and reduce foaming.

5

Give the drink a gentle stir with a long spoon or straw 1–2 turns to evenly incorporate syrup and water without over-agitating and losing carbonation.

Finish and serve

6

If desired, squeeze a lemon or lime wedge over the top and drop it in for a citrus note.

7

Garnish with a maraschino cherry if preferred. Serve immediately with a straw.
